Picking the contenders

We choose the products US shoppers search for and buy most on Amazon in a category, from different brands and price points, so there is a sensible pick for every budget.

Where the facts come from

Specs come from the manufacturers' product pages and manuals. We also read a large sample of verified buyer reviews, looking for the problems owners report again and again, because those tell you more than a spec sheet.

What we will never do

We do not take money from brands to be included or ranked, we do not invent star ratings or test results, and we do not claim lab testing we did not do. When a model year or version changes the specs, we say so.

Staying current

Each comparison shows when it was last updated. When a new model replaces one of the picks, we revise the page.
